Swedish bands you might not have heard of

With the Swedes Max Martin and Denniz Pop being some of the worlds top songwriters/music producers (and Sweden’s winters being so long it makes people stay inside creating things) it may not be a surprise that some of the best music of the world today has it’s origin in Sweden.
ABBA, The Gardigans, Roxette, Robyn, Ace of Base, and the new hit machines The Swedish House Maffia and Avicii are some of Sweden’s most famous artists that have made the top list all over the world. Whilst these bands are the most successful (famous) ones, there are some great swedish artists out there that deserve some attention and will do a great job on your road trip playlist! Here’s some of them:

The Royal Concept –

The Royal Concept (Previously know as The Concept) is a rock band founded in 2010. The band has many times been compared to “Phoenix” and the boys have proudly admitted an inspiration in interviews but stands tall with their own charm and a pretty handsome lead singer if I can say so myself.
Some of the most famous songs are “D-D-Dance”, “On our way” and “Gimme twice”.

The Ark –

The Ark was a Swedish glam rock band formed in 1991.
Th Ark’s lead singer, Ola Salo, was (and still is) famous for his expressional body language, exceptional (and sometimes controversial) song writing and crazy stage outfits. The band split up in 2011 but Ola Salo is still making music and acts as a solo artist.
Some of The Ark’s songs I recommend looking up are: “Let your body decide”, “Calleth you, cometh I” and my personal favourite “It takes a fool to remain sane”.

Mando Diao –

Mando Diao is a indie rock/garage rock band from Borlänge, Sweden. With a main fan base around Europe, Mando Diao has also made a good amount of fans in Japan. Mando Diao are famous for getting the crowds bouncing during their performances. When the floor collapsed during one of the bands concert at the Amplified Festival in Umeå, and some of their fans ended up in the hospital, Mando Diao made a personal visit to the hospital to show their support.

Shout Out Louds

Shout Out Louds is an indie pop band from Stockholm, Sweden.
Some of the most popular songs include: “Tonight I have to leave it”, “very loud”, “Impossible” and “The comeback”.

First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo. Their 2008 YouTube video cover of the song “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by Fleet Foxes spread their name rapidly on the Internet. The sisters Johanna & Klara Söderberg are famous for their harmonious singing and country-influenced songs.

The tallest man on earth

The singer/songwriter behind The tallest man on earth is Kristian Matsson, born 1983 from Dalarna, Sweden.
Kristian is famous for writing and recording his own material and explains the reason for why his songs are so real is because he very rarely records the songs his music and singing as separate tracks.
Some of his most famous tunes are “The dreamer”, “The gardener” and “The king of Spain”.

The Tough Alliance

TTA was an electronic pop music duo from Gothenburg, Sweden.
Their music contains controversial lyrics and the duo have been criticised in Swedish media for their unusual antics during live performances and was once thrown of stage during a Stockholm performance for swinging baseball bats on stage.
